Tips to Simplify Your Move

Whether you are moving to your first apartment or to the home of your dreams, no two moves are ever the same. Add in the family pets and children, and then the process can be a real challenge. Ray’s Movers & Storage offers you tips and solutions to make moving day easier.

Make Your Move Easier

Decide if storage is needed
Use smaller boxes for heavier items
Pack a separate bag of all your essentials
Throw away or recycle anything that you do not need
For delicate items use t-shirts, sweaters, and socks as extra padding
Make a checklist of which box should go into which room in your new home
In addition to labeling what is in your boxes, remember to include which room it goes in as well
Secure valuables such as cash, important documents, jewelry, and medication. Place them in your bag of personal items that you will be taking with you on the day of the move
Take a photo of how your electronics are connected so you can remember how to reconnect them
For larger appliances, be sure to check your owner's manual to see if there are any special instructions for moving
Remember to defrost your refrigerator or freezer at least a day before moving and wipe up any liquid
Always use boxes with tops. Never interlock the tops, and always use packing tape to secure the boxes
Check with your local hardware stores to see if they have a propane exchange program for your propane tanks to avoid having to transport them

The movers I had arrived on time the day of the move. They were very polite and careful with all my stuff. PRay's Movers came to our rescue when our other movers did not show up. I called them to see if they could come the next day to do our move. They sent 3 amazing guys (Jerry, Anton and Bryan). The best way to describe them is them gliding up and and down our 2 story home with full basement with all the professionalism you can ever hope for. After they loaded the truck they took it to our new home that was just as big and they did all of that in less than a day. I wish I would have called them initially, but I definitely will call them next time I have a move, and I highly recommend them!!!

Ray's Movers & Storage did a great job with a local move. They were on time and treated our things with care and made sure they picked up everything and asked if anything was fragile and made note of it on the sheet. They moved things up stairs and helped rearrange things without any problems. The cost was reasonable and they were one of the few movers who had a receptionist answering the phone for scheduling. I would use them again and recommend them to others.

We used Ray's when moving into our new home. Our 3 man team did an amazing job getting our furniture out of our apartment in a timely manner, and then moving everything into 3 different levels of the house. They also we're thoughtful of the weather and put plenty of pads down when it starting raining. Nothing was damaged and overall we had a great moving experience. We'd definitely recommend Ray's to our family and friends.
